While B Corp focuses on “business as a force for good”, many of us do things as a force for good that fall outside of our business. For example, Troy is sharing a story about his family’s tradition of supporting local organizations when they travel.

Troy:  When my family travels, we try to find a local organization to visit, support, and learn about.  On one trip, we were hoping to sponsor a dog in need by bringing it back to the mainland for adoption. The Kauai Humane Society has created partnerships with mainland rescues called the A.L.O.H.A transfer program to open more doors.  There were no available spaces on the mainland during our visit, so we opted to temporarily host a dog, Kumar.

Turn your travels into a volunteering opportunity too by researching local organizations in need or talking with locals.  Who knows where the adventure will find you?  As for Troy and Kumar, they ended up at a waterfall.  Going to Kauai? Visit https://kauaihumane.org/service/transfer-program/ to sponsor your own dog in need.
