…or is it?

The answer is yes and no. We don’t have to apply just yet, but when we do, it will be different than last time. Evergreen’s recertification date is May 2027, which means that the committee has some time to become familiar with the different process.

What’s new

The new system requires minimum performance across a set of impact topics. B Lab is moving from a points-based system* to a mandatory minimum performance across a set of impact topics. This means B Corps can no longer compensate for a weak performance in one area by doing exceptionally well in another.

Every certified B Corp now must meet baseline standards in the following core topics:

  1. Purpose & Stakeholder Governance (PSG)
  2. Fair Work (this includes worker and workplace culture, fair wages, etc.)
  3. Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI)
  4. Human Rights
  5. Climate Action
  6. Environmental Stewardship & Circularity (ESC)
  7. Government Affairs & Collective Action

You can help

Keep these seven topics in mind as you make your valuable contributions to Evergreen and our clients. If you think of good examples of where we shine in these areas, the B Corp Committee would love to hear about them.

*The points-based system allowed businesses to earn points across broad impact areas and required a total of 80 out of 200 points.
