One of the B Corp areas of impact is “Workers” and within that, is a focus on employee wellness. To improve our impact in this area, we’re setting a goal to provide you all with monthly wellness tips with each update. We’re kicking it off this month with some tips for practicing mindfulness.
In the past year and a half, even in the past month (thank you Simone Biles!), mental health has been brought to the forefront of wellness conversations. Let’s face it, since the pandemic hit, we’ve been thrown for a loop in one way or another on a global scale. The ups and downs of experiencing fear, stress, loss, and more have left some of us reeling.
In this month’s wellness tip, we’re sharing three simple mindfulness practices to include in your routine to support your daily mental health.
- Start your day with purpose. Before you get going for the day, close your eyes and breathe deeply. Think about the day ahead and set your intentions. For example, “Today I will practice patience, remain positive, and be kind to myself.” Learn more about Setting Intentions.
- Practice Mindful Breathing. Sit still, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Become aware of your body and feelings. Breathe deeply and as you open your eyes and return to your day, carry that awareness with you. There are different methods for mindful breathing. This amazing guide was developed for the classroom, but we think it can work wonders for employees as well as students!
- Make room for mindful pauses. Take a moment to step out of autopilot. Stretch, look out the window or breathe. Check out these 1 Minute Mindfulness Exercises for more ideas on mindful pauses to practice throughout your workday.
